I went on an amazing run this morning. The weather, landscape, and wildlife were all poppin’ in Technicolor, surround sound, and HD. You couldn’t help but recognize the intense beauty of creation.

Have you ever received a gift from someone for no reason? They were just thinking of you? That’s what this morning felt like. Half way through the run Psalm 8 came to my mind. God, why would you do this for me? The only answer I could come up with was His love.

At the end of my run I had one overwhelming thought for the day…be motivated by love not fear.

On Sunday we talked about how it is our fear of inadequacy that leads us into the need to be right, justify ourselves, and judge others. As opposed to, the love of God that leads us into forgiveness, restoration, and mercy to others. If you are looking for some of that love today, I suggest going for a walk.

Psalm 8

1 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory
above the heavens.
2 From the lips of children and infants
you have ordained praise[b]
because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.

3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings[c]
and crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
you put everything under his feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air,
and the fish of the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

9 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
