Last week my family celebrated a lot. Wednesday Lowery gave a small speech to about a hundred people, Thursday Halie sang in a musical, and Saturday Grace swam in her first swim meet. I think Val and I were more nervous then they were. Of course they all did great.

But that didn’t even matter, I was most proud of their choices to pursue something risky, something that was extra work, something potentially embarrassing. Somewhere a long the line my kids made a choice to pursue a life that won’t be dictated by fear or apathy. Real life.

I pray my kids never lose that courage… I pray that I never lose that courage.

With out the risk we would have nothing to celebrate.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
