The Thursday before Easter is a really beautiful part of our story.

Jesus gathers his disciples for the Passover meal and announces that He will be the eternal sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. Wow! That’s a big deal. But another big event happens even before he introduces the Lord’s Supper.

There was no servant to wash the feet of the disciples before they eat. It’s not hard to imagine the awkward stares as the disciples take a mental inventory of what they are willing to do for each other. One thing is for sure.

Washing feet has always been and will always be nasty. Jesus did it. He wanted to.

Jesus wasn’t just announcing the full extent of his love; he was showing us what it looks like.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Jesus is a servant, and if you follow him, you will become one too.

Happy Thursday before Easter!
