When is the last time you tried to hide from someone? I mean really hide? As a teacher I recall hiding from a few parents. Don’t judge me, it was before e-mail and teaching a full day is more emotionally exhausting than you think.
I was sick this week and feeling disconnected from everything, including God. Even my prayers felt sick and started carrying an assumption that God was hiding from me. Instead of coming to God in confidence and for comfort, I was insecure and nervous. “God, where are you?”
As my body has started to recover, so has my spirit. Today while praying, God reminded that He doesn’t hide or play games with us.
He is always the one waiting, pursuing, and finding us. Maybe that’s why they call him Immanuel.
Matthew 1:21-23
21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
The great promise of Christmas is that God really is with us.
Merry Christmas,
Adam
