Hey New City Folks,
Jesus gives a sermon in Matthew Ch. 5 that completely turns our understanding of the world upside down. He says that in God’s world the happy are those who are hungry, mourn or persecuted for doing right. Huh. It gets even more confusing further along in the sermon when he says, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be sons of your father in heaven.” 5:43-48.
As a gathering of people centered on God’s reality we begin to help each other live up to the demands of Jesus by sharing the Lord’s Supper together. See, at the supper we learn what it means to receive forgiveness, and only then are we nourished enough to live and love like God.
Reality is different for the people of faith. In God’s world, happiness always begins at a gathering of His people over the meal He has provided.
See you at the Lord’s Supper this Sunday.
