This side of the resurrection

Recently, my daughter asked me again, “why haven’t you updated your I-phone to the new operating system?” (IOS 7, which isn’t even new anymore).

I tell her, “it’s a hassle… I don’t want to relearn how to use my phone… give my phone back!”

She says, “OK Dad, whatever, but you know it’s better right?”

Some of us were talking last night about this side of the resurrection. Jesus has overcome the reality of death, leaving us to figure out the reality of living forever.

Relearning to walk into life instead of running from death, you know it’s better right?

Isaiah 61:3..
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
