Happy May New City Folks,
If you haven’t met Matt Fitzpatrick (our children’s/youth pastor) you need to. We were talking this morning and he shared a conversation he was having with our youth group on a Tuesday night. I liked it so much I asked if he could share it with the rest of us.
Awhile back, I wrote on my Facebook, “Love God, love others, and do what you want.”
I shared this idea with the middle school kids I teach on Tuesday nights. One of them laughed and said, “Well whenever I do what I want, I get grounded.”
I then asked, “Were you loving God and others?”
I told the students when you love God and love others; you are free to follow the desires of your heart. So the next question was, what do you want to do?
I got long-term answers like being a judge or archaeologist, and short-term answers like play baseball and swim. All of the things they desired were good, God given. They were saying; “I want to make the world a better place, I want to discover more about God’s creation, I want to enjoy and take care of the body God has given me.”Trust God, love others, and live the life God made you to live.
Thanks Matt.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
God really loves us,
Adam
